The forestry program prepares students for professional careers with organizations that manage forest and related lands. Graduates apply biological, ecological, economic, and social knowledge to develop and administer forest management plans. Students can specialize in areas including agroforestry, arboriculture, business management, forest products, international forestry, human dimensions, silviculture, and urban forestry. The program is accredited by the Society of American Foresters. The Department of Forestry and Natural Resources curriculum has common core requirements with the fisheries and aquatic sciences, natural resources, and wildlife curricula, which emphasize sustainable management of natural resource systems - focusing on forests, watersheds, and associated flora and fauna to meet the needs of society.
