Clinical Laboratory Science: Clinical Laboratory Science (also known as medical technology) is a biology/chemistry-based bachelors degree. In KUs 75-year accredited CLS program, students receive a one-of-a kind dual-track program featuring molecular biotechnology and the traditional clinical concentrations. The extensive scientific background a student receives in CLS is an advantage to those seeking further academic or professional studies. In addition, many students receive substantial scholarships.
Cytotechnology: Cytotechnology is the study of human cells under a microscope in order to detect the early signs of cancer and other diseases. The University of Kansas Medical Center has maintained a program in cytotechnology since the earliest days of the profession in the mid 1950s.The program was originally housed in the Pathology department of the hospital. Cytotechnology joined the School of Allied Health in 1987. Today faculty and students split their time between the classroom learning environment in the school and the real-world experience provided by The University of Kansas Hospital.
