Architecture What sets both UCs undergraduate and graduate architecture programs apart is, among other things, the required cooperative education component. UC is the global founder of whats commonly known as co-op, the practice that requires students to alternate quarters or semesters in the classroom with quarters or semesters of professionally paid work. UCs co-op program is ranked in the nations Top Ten by U.S. News & World Report, and design students routinely graduate with 18 months of real-world professional work experience on their resumes work experience garnered from around the globe work experience that makes UC grads very attractive to employers. Innovative course work is the norm in UCs architecture program. Challenging opportunities and assignments provided to students include the design and construction of a working solar house on campus; designing and constructing a structure at the bottom of UCs Olympic-sized pool as part of an Extreme Environments design course; and even building self-portrait robots in order to learn to focus on design for the human scale.
